Cheer up your Friday afternoon commute by tuning in to 1090 AM/101.5 FM to hear some festive holiday music from the Maryland Military Band!  The Band will perform a few musical selections during the 4:00-5:00 hour on Friday, December 20 as part of the 2019 WBAL Kids Campaign Holiday Radio show. Or come out to Valley View Farms on York Road in Cockeysville to be part of the live broadcast environment!

Join the Maryland Military Band for a concert including patriotic and familiar band music as well as possibly an early taste of some holiday tunes.  The historic chapel is a lovely setting for a musical afternoon.  Concert is open to the public.  A free-will offering will be taken.

Veterans Day Weekend Concerts – Saturday, November 9, 2019, 11:15 AM & 2:15 PM – CANCELLED DUE TO COLD WEATHER

The Fort will still commemorate Armistice Day this weekend but the Maryland Military Band will not participate due to forecast cold temperatures.  
The Maryland Military Band will give a public concert inside the historic star fort at 11:15 AM and again at 2:15 PM.  2019 marks the centennial of the first official “Armistice Day” observance which commemorated the end of WWI on November 11, 1918, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.  The name was later changed to “All Veterans Day” and then shortened to “Veterans Day.”

The Maryland Military Band Brass Quintet will perform patriotic music to honor all veterans in a special program at the Senior Center.

Vintage Band Festival – Thursday, August 1 – Sunday, August 4, 2019
The Imperial Cornet Band will represent The Maryland Military Band at the 2019 Vintage Band Festival in Northfield, MN!
The ICB will give several performances during the 4-day festival, featuring music of World War I.  Music director Jari Villanueva will also be a presenter at the Historic Brass Society conference held in conjunction with the festival, speaking on Band Music of WWI.  Check out the festival website for more information and a complete schedule of performing ensembles.

Baltimore County Public Library Concert – Monday, November 12, 2018, 7 PM Perry Hall Library, 9685 Honeygo Boulevard, Perry Hall, MD 21128 Celebrate History Week with Baltimore County Public Library and The Maryland Military Band. This year’s theme at BCPL is “Maryland At War.” The Maryland Military Band will give a special performance of World War I era music commemorating the centennial of the end of World War I on November 11, 1918. Free public concert will feature the music of John Philip Sousa, Irving Berlin, George M. Cohan, James Reese Europe, Kenneth Alford, and more! 

Sounds of Remembrance – Sunday, November 11, 2018, 11 AM Members of The Maryland Military Band will participate in Sounds of Remembrance, a World War One commemorative event involving hundreds of trumpeters and buglers from across the US and around the world. The event, which is sponsored by the Taps for Veterans organization, will take place worldwide throughout the day as the buglers each sound Taps (US) or The Last Post (UK, British Commonwealth countries) at 11:00 in their local time zones. Fort McHenry National Historic Shrine – Sunday, November 11, 2018, 10:30 AM and 2 PM The Maryland Military Band will perform WWI-era music at Fort McHenry to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of The Great War on November 11, 1918. From 1917-1923, Fort McHenry was home to the 3,000 bed US Army General Hospital No. 2, and eventually more than 20,000 sick and wounded soldiers would pass through the hospital on their way home from the war. In addition to performances by the Band there will be commemorative flag raisings and moments of silence scheduled during the day, along with WWI interpreters and special exhibits by park staff. 

Baltimore County Public Library Veterans Day program – Saturday, November 10, 2018, 1 PM Lansdowne Library, 500 Third Avenue, Lansdowne, MD 21227 Members of The Maryland Military Band will perform patriotic music and music of World War One for a Veterans Day program at the Lansdowne branch of the Baltimore County Public Library. This special free program will begin with a performance by a brass quintet made up of musicians from The Maryland Military Band, followed by arts and crafts for all ages with library staff, including making memorial poppies in commemoration of the WWI centennial, and the opportunity to send a postcard to a veteran or active duty member of the armed forces thanking them for their service.  

Baltimore National Cemetery – Saturday, November 10, 2018, 10 AM 5501 Frederick Ave, Catonsville, MD 21228 Members of the Maryland Military Band will provide musical support for a ceremony commemorating the life and service of Baltimore native Emily Raine Williams (1880-1961), superintendent of nurses at Fort McHenry hospital during World War One.

Vietnam Veterans Appreciation Luncheon – Saturday, November 3, 2018, 1 PM American Legion Post 109, 1610 Sulphur Spring Rd., Arbutus, MD 21227 The Maryland Military Band will provide patriotic music for a Vietnam Veterans Appreciation Luncheon sponsored by the Dewey Loman American Legion Post 109.  

Our Lady of the Angels Chapel Concert Series – Sunday, September 9, 2018, 3 PM Charlestown Retirement Community, 711 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, MD 21228 The Maryland Military Band presents The Imperial Cornet Band in a concert of World War I era music in the beautiful historic chapel at Charlestown. Enjoy some medleys of popular songs of the Great War, ragtime and early jazz, Sousa marches and more, all performed by a small ensemble typical of the instrumentation of the period.  Concert is free and open to the public (a freewill offering will be taken).

Town of Bel Air Summer Concert Series – Sunday, August 5, 2018, 7 PM Humbert Amphitheatre at Shamrock Park, Bel Air, MD 21014 With guest narrator Barry F. Williams and the Imperial Cornet Band Bring your lawn chair or blanket and spend a summer evening with the Maryland Military Band enjoying “100 Years of Musical Memories: 1918-2018.”  Free public concert will feature the music of Johann Strauss Jr., Leonard Bernstein, Kenneth Alford, Irving Berlin, W. C. Handy, Rodgers & Hammerstein, and more!
