A professional performing unit of The Maryland Military Band, The Imperial Cornet Band performs original music of the World War I era with a small ensemble instrumentation typical of the period.

Music of John Philip Sousa, George M. Cohan, W.C. Handy, and Irving Berlin is featured along with selections originally written by James Reese Europe and performed by the band of the famous 369th Regiment, NY National Guard, the “Harlem HellFighters.”

Our programs give audiences a chance to hear what this music sounded like performed by a small regimental band and gain insight on how music was used to further the war effort both at home and on the battlefield during “The Great War.”

The ensemble has performed at Military Through the Ages at Jamestown, VA, and for WWI commemorative events and other ceremonies in the Baltimore and Washington, DC area. In August 2019 The Imperial Cornet Band will participate in the Vintage Band Festival in Northfield, MN.
